PLEASE NOTE:

SCAM ACTION IN THE PUMP INDUSTRY

Phishing and online fraud are becoming increasingly common, and the pump industry has also been a victim of fraudulent practices for some time now. Fake requests, quotes, and orders are circulating within our industry.

The Industrial Pump Group Netherlands would like to warn you about this.

When should you be alert?

There are various 'fake' requests circulating from a group posing as Pfizer, Unilever, or Shell. These requests often involve a substantial number of valves, valves, or pumps. This sought-after product is equipped with a non-existent article code / model number, making it only available from the fraudulent party. Examples of the requested products include model numbers: UTRYH9874 or MK7956.

PLEASE NOTE: If you receive a request for a product with this model number or if it concerns one of the above-mentioned items, be cautious not to fall victim to fraud.

An example of a fake order can be seen next to this message (click on the image to enlarge). The order was not sent by Pfizer but by a group of scammers pretending to be Pfizer!

How does the scam operation work?

  1. A request is generated in the market for a very specific item (pump or special valve) and distributed to various companies in the industry.
  2. The request comes from a fake account of a reputable company: Pfizer or, in the recent past, Unilever. For clarity, these companies or requests are created by the scammers.
  3. When searching via the internet, the only company that can supply this specific item is the imitation pump company under the name Industrial Pumps Tech – (formerly Industrial PumpsGroups, Industrial Pumps Valves & Engineering Supplies, and various other names).
  4. This company states on its website that it is internationally active and located in Velsen Noord, the Netherlands – please note: this is the current address of the Industrial Pump Group Netherlands, Chamber of Commerce data, etc., our company whose identity is being misused.
  5. How it works: imitation Pfizer places a request for pumps / valves. The contacted company searches online and requests a quote from the fake Industrial Pumps Group.
  6. They receive a quote and offer it to the imitation Pfizer/Unica, who then places an order.
  7. They order the product and receive a Proforma invoice from the counterfeit pump company (currently active under multiple names) in order to pay (part of) the amount in advance.
  8. After payment, all communication ceases, and they lose the money.

In many cases, the party that has to pay in advance contacts us to verify, and we can warn them in time. However, there are parties that have already transferred money and are therefore heavily affected.

IN SHORT: WHAT SHOULD YOU PAY ATTENTION TO?

When a very specific product is requested by large companies and can only be found at a company with a name like Industrial Pumps Valves & Engineering Supplies (IPVES) or Industrial Pumps Tech, alarm bells should ring.

Even a check via a contact moment with data obtained via the fake website is misleading. This website shows multiple addresses, with or without a Dutch 020 number. When you contact them, they respond cooperatively, but this is part of the fraudulent party!

Below are examples of the website where you should NOT place a request:
